Get to Know PeopleSoft Selective Adoption
While we have written a great deal about the PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and Continuous Delivery Model, Oracle has wrapped these two into a strategic approach that goes beyond what these new features are. They’re so important, and they fundamentally shift the PeopleSoft update model so dramatically, that, in essence, the way you use and manage PeopleSoft has been changed forever – and this is a good thing. We saw the buzz at OpenWorld surrounding the PUM/Continuous Delivery Model, and the sessions we’re packed and people were very engaged. This is the real deal.
You will start hearing the term PeopleSoft Selective Adoption more regularly. What does it mean? Oracle’s Marc Weintraub blogged about it over at PeopleSoft Apps Strategy:
“PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” is the terminology we are using to convey what this new age of PeopleSoft delivery means to our customers.As a PeopleSoft customer on PeopleSoft 9.2, “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” means:
- You get new capabilities without the need to upgrade ever again
- You take only the changes you want, when you want
- You don’t need to be current on maintenance to take changes.
Make no mistake – the PUM is what makes PeopleSoft Selective Adoption possible. This is a very friendly approach for customers, and everyone we talk to on a daily basis is excited for this. It modernizes PeopleSoft from an update management process more than anything Oracle/PeopleSoft has ever released.
