Linkology: The Best of the Internet for 7/2/10

Chances are nobody is reading this post because they are on a beach or heading up north or in the backyard setting up a homemade slip-n-slide with baby shampoo (heard that on the radio this morning), so I’ll spare you the silly prefatory babble and get right to the links that you might be able to read way off in your remote corner with your iPhone over EDGE if you’re lucky.

First off, Engadget’s Droid X review.  Compelling device.

Our endless patience with the ‘low road.’

Trunk Club: it’s like a Netflix for men’s clothes. Awesome idea, especially for guys like me who can’t even bring themselves to shop when we have hundreds of dollars of gift cards sitting around.  This is such a good idea I’m peeved I didn’t think of it.  Just like I was when I had the idea a long time ago for humorous/custom GPS voices and conceded the idea, via apathy, to Snoop Dogg and others.  Grr.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Verizon iPhone in January?

MSNBC.com’s fantastic redesign.  As John Gruber notes, it’s another nail in the pageview (as key engagement metric) coffin.

A. J. Jacobs: I Think You’re Fat.  A story about radical honesty.

Vanity Fair with an excellent article about Michael Jackson and the shooting of the Thriller music video.  Jackson was at the top of his game as a artist, but already showing cracks in the veneer.  Great read.

iPhone 4 tops Macworld’s smartphone camera test.

Derek Powazek’s They Don’t Complain and They Die Quietly. Maybe the most poignant blog post I’ve read all year.

Have a great weekend and holiday, everyone.  Happy 4th!
