Vladimir Putin, Man of Action

Vladimir Putin, Man of Action

This made the rounds about a week ago, but it’s too good to ignore.

The Atlantic’s In Focus with Alan Taylor has a collection of 34 photos that underpin Vladimir Putin’s dashing social image. The former president and current prime minister of Russia has always had a colorful public face, but frankly, I had no idea he was a man of so many interests. I applaud personalities like this, because in my book, this is living life. Politics, nationality, belief framework — none of that factors in here.

So what does Putin do that’s so darn interesting? How about drive an F1 car, administer medical care for a tiger, practice judo, ride horseback, scuba dive to see archeological excavations, socialize with jungle cats, arm wrestle in public, attempt to bend frying pans with his bare hands, snowmobile, pilot firefighting planes, play piano, hang with biker gangs, tag whales with a crossbow for scientific study, and hug puppies.

In fact, it’s everything I can do not to make a Most Interesting Man in the World joke right now. I can barely stand it.
