Oracle Nails 4th Quarter Aided by Increased Business Spending, Sun Microsystems

Ben Worthen, reporting for the WSJ:

“The three things that are certain in life are death, taxes, and Oracle’s fourth quarter,” says Peter Goldmacher, an analyst at Cowen and Co.

This year was no exception. For the period ended May 31, Oracle said total revenue rose 39% from the year-earlier period to $9.51 billion. Software license revenue, a closely-watched metric that indicates new sales, climbed 14%, besting the company’s own forecast.
