We had a snowstorm this week, which was eventually dubbed a blizzard by The Weather People just before the snow started falling.
Coinciding with this storm, I wasn’t getting a lot of sleep. This combination led me to say a great many stupid puns about the blizzard, including but not limited to:
- If this blizzard was a hockey game, I bet Alex Snowvechkin would get a hat trick.
- If this blizzard were a ‘The Usual Suspects’ remake, I bet Kevin Spacey would come back as Kaiser Snowze.
- I’m a huge fan of Chewbacca. But let’s not forget his sidekick, Han Snowlo.
- Tonight I’m gonna have a nice glass of Bordeaux and re-watch the Snowlar Express.
- Snowtify me when it starts coming down, everyone.
There are more, but I see no reason in raking you over the coals any further.
This unfortunate string of nonsense led to a great deal of irritation on behalf of my Facebook friends, and people in stores and restaurants looked at me briefly and shuffled away nervously when I tried this material out on them. I tell you all of this because I still contend it was funny, but I’m also the kind of guy who finds his cat gnawing on a faucet handle at 3 AM funny.
So yeah. Probably not funny.
But, on the upside, here are some links for you. I assure you these are better than what you’ve read so far.
John Gruber on the Verizon iPhone 4. In a nutshell: same phone as the AT&T iPhone 4, but better call reliability and audio quality. AT&T’s network speeds are faster, but the coverage is spotty compared to Verizon.
If you click on one thing from this blog today, take a deep breath, dim your lights and make it this short film by Jesse Rosten, entitled Growing is Forever. Hypnotic.
I didn’t know that Photoshops of cars with their roofs on backwards could be so cool to look at. But now I do.
Roger Ebert’s best documentaries of 2010. Great list.
Get action, do things, be sane.
Finally, my money says VW has the early frontrunner for best SuperBowl commercial this year. Here’s a preview.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
