Some naming and licensing news from Oracle’s PeopleSoft Technology Blog:
We have changed the name and licensing options for the PeopleSoft Portal. It is now called the PeopleSoft Applications Portal. This was done to help clarify the positioning of the PeopleSoft Portal and its primary role in unifying PeopleSoft content and the PeopleSoft applications user experience. Formerly this product was called the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal. There was also a limited use option of the same product called the PeopleSoft Community Portal (restricted to three sites deployed, but otherwise functionally equivalent).
In addition, we’ve eliminated the restricted use license of the Community Portal to simplify licensing. All existing licenses to Community Portal will still be valid.
Good info to know, especially as it relates to product positioning and helping users understand where the Portal fits into PeopleSoft’s current ecosystem.
