PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing Bid Response

PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing Bid Response

Okay, finally this Strategic Sourcing blog series is coming off hiatus. We thank everyone for their patience. We had a few technical environment snags to comb out.

Let’s pick up where we left off: if you recall, we had discussed and demonstrated creating a sourcing event, so let’s focus on entering responses to that sourcing event. It’s the next logical step.

It is important to note that there are differences between setting up and responding to auction events and RFX events.  For our purposes we will continue to focus on RFX events.

As we previously saw, once vendors are invited, they are enabled to respond to an event.  Each vendor will have access to their bidding home page where they can view the events open to bid.  They can also search for additional events to bid on.  Additionally, there are some basic administrative tasks they have access to update.  Here is a screen shot below of a bidding home page.

Once the event is accessed, the vendor will follow the structure of the event that was created, responding to the required elements of the bid.  As we noted, there may be header bid factors and line factors that must be responded to.  Additionally, vendors, depending on how the event is setup may be able to view the following:

  • Start prices
  • The winning bid
  • The Bid History page
  • Current round and version
  • The identity of all bidders
  • Bid rank
  • Number of bids
  • Header score, line score, and combined total score (only for auction events)

Let’s take a look at a short video that demonstrates the actual bid responses entered.

Once the bid responses are entered, the next stage is analyzing responses and awarding bids. We will cover that in our next installment of this blog series.
