If you only took away one message from this year’s RECONNECT conference, it would be that PeopleSoft is more alive and well than it has been over the last 15 years.
Almost 500 individuals gathered in Chicago from July 16 – July 18. Over 50% were first-time RECONNECT conference attendees. This number would surprise anyone who believes that interest in PeopleSoft is decreasing. It’s not only Oracle who is still devoting time, energy and money into PeopleSoft. This conference is evidence that all types of organizations across all industries are continuing their investment and interest in PeopleSoft.
Rebekah Jackson, VP Strategy & Product Management from Oracle, provided the key note opening of the conference and the strategic update regarding Oracle’s commitment to PeopleSoft.
Here are some facts that caught our attention:
- PeopleSoft customers are more engaged with Oracle than ever, making the customer base seem even larger than it was 20 years ago.
- Not everyone is ready for the Cloud which is why Oracle continues significant investments in PeopleSoft.
- Customers have been and should continue to utilize Oracle’s Idea Spaces. Customers submitted over 2,800 ideas and cast more than 18,500 votes. This helps to form new functionalities Oracle will add to PeopleSoft.
- Chatbots are here and were delivered in PeopleSoft HCM PUM Image 31. Oracle will continue to deliver additional Chatbot functionality in upcoming PUM images. Chatbot Integration Framework allows organizations to build their own Chatbot content.
In addition to Rebekah’s opening session, another common theme was Oracle’s focus on providing tools and features to simplify PeopleSoft. Some of these new tools and features include adding configuration capabilities vs. customizations, Fluid (more intuitive for users), mobile capabilities and updates in employee self-service.
Interest continues in Lease Administration, and our sessions were well attended. MIPRO provided direction on customer preparation for Lease Administration implementation. We also provided case studies and examples from prior and current Lease Administration engagements. The ability to take advantage of the newer and previously delivered user experience tools remain highly attractive to customers. The Page and Field Configurator, Related Actions, Fluid Pivot Grids, Simplified Analytics, Drilling URLs help customers configure PeopleSoft to meet their business process needs.
MIPRO was selected to deliver five presentations at RECONNECT with over 100 attendees in our very popular sessions.
MIPRO’s session topics included PeopleSoft User Experience, PUM Update Project Execution, Utilizing Contingent Worker Feature to Manage Non-Employees and two sessions on Lease Administration.
Finally, MIPRO hosted our annual networking session at Bub City after the RECONNECT Welcome Reception. Nearly 100 were in attendance. Our customers, Oracle representatives and new friends were able to share stories, network, socialize while gaining advice and council on their PeopleSoft deployments. Everyone enjoyed great food, beverages and music and from the feedback that we received, all had a great time!
We are looking forward to next year when RECONNECT 2020 will be held in St. Louis, Missouri in July!
