At MIPRO, one of our carved-in-stone corporate commitments is to “do the right thing.” We use that as a guide in our interactions with clients, prospects, partners, and team members. But much like it’s said the true picture of a man’s character is how he acts when nobody is watching, the true measure of this principle is how one employs it outside of the office.
For me, it’s a measure of “green.” While I am not to one to espouse the argument of global warming, as a parent I am concerned about our landfills and the amount of post-consumer waste that has no place to go. My family adopted recycling years ago simply because it seemed like the right thing to do.
I am proud to announce that for the second week in a row, my family of four (including two teenagers) has made it through an entire week while producing just ONE bag of garbage for the week. Our awareness of recyclable materials has achieved a new level and it shows. We are fairly consistently achieving a 3:1 ratio of recyclables to garbage in our curbside collections.
Our county recently announced an initiative to move from twice a week collection to once a week collection. As a family, we have increased our awareness and our commitment to “do the right thing”, and now we are fully prepared to adopt once a week collection.
