As I sit down to write the last “longer” post of the year, I want to go back to when this blog started, some four years ago. I wanted to start a blog for MIPRO because a blog is a great way for you, our readers, to get a feel for the “personality” of our company. We live in the consulting world every day, where people are everything. We know how nice good chemistry is – and we know what happens if it’s missing. Aside from us being able to post updated content 3–4 times a week, it’s a great way for you to get an idea of who the people are behind the MIPRO brand.
As the Editor of Unfiltered, my goal was to bring you updated information on PeopleSoft, Oracle, enterprise technology, IT management and popular technology culture, all wrapped into one (hopefully interesting) blog that’s worth reading every day.
It was rough sledding at first. Our first month I think we had 20 or 30 unique visitors. Over time, as we added more content, we bumped that figure up. 50. 100. 500. I still remember when we hit 1,000 uniques in a month – we were all high-fiving ourselves over here.
Today, we’re approaching 10,000 unique visitors and over 110,000 pageviews every month, and you guys are coming to us for all sorts of reasons: PeopleSoft 9.2 information. Maybe you’re looking for the most complete set of information on PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing this side of PeopleBooks. Maybe you want a camera review. Even cat stories. I’ve even had someone stop me in Detroit Metro Airport, notice the logo in my shirt, and tell me he reads the blog every day. That was awesome.
And it’s happened more than that: MIPRO customers tell our Account Executives about something they read on our blog, and we’ve had folks come up to us at trade shows and tell us they love the stuff we publish every week.
If all of this sounds like a giant self-tooting of our own horn, it isn’t. Why? Because what makes this a success isn’t the words we type, the opinions we proffer or the humor I try to grind out: it’s you guys, the readers. Without you to read this, what’s the point? There’s no utility to one hand clapping.
So, as we head into the holidays after what’s been an extremely busy and rewarding year, I want to thank all of you who read this blog on behalf of the entire MIPRO team. We aim to continue doing what we’re doing, as long as you continue to read what we write. Deal?
Deal.
Also, you’d can follow these blog updates on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter, if that’s more your thing.
Happy holidays, everyone. Be well, and enjoy the season.
