Linkology: Friday Links for 2/26/10

On Fridays, I put on the pith helmet and waders to scour the crufty, damp corners of the internet so you don’t have to.  This week’s bounty:

Eric Karjaluoto is giving away his book Speak Human one chapter at a time.  If you’re interested, here are the first two chapters: Big Isn’t the Only Option and Thank Goodness You’re Small.  Highly recommended, and I love the community-driven approach.

10 things that influence conformity.  The most interesting is #6: People use conformity to ingratiate themselves with others. Conforming also makes people feel better about themselves by bolstering self-confidence. Some people have a greater need for liking from others so are more likely to conform.  Have you noticed that nonconformers are less likely to care what other people think of them? Nonconformity and self-confidence go hand-in-hand.

Palm slashes guidance, stock tanks. Related: Jon Rubinstein’s letter to Palm employees after the bad news.

I woke up this morning, checked my garage, and I still don’t have a Nissan GT-R. What gives?

Sushi Cat, a game.  Must experience to understand. Warning: don’t try this if you actually have something real to get done.

So you resisted Sushi Cat, did you?  You must feel good about yourself.  Meet Blosics 2.

Felix Salmon: why the Treasury shouldn’t regulate banks.

The Bloom Box, a prototype fuel source that could, inventors claim, replace today’s power grid.  Several of these are actually in use today, as Google, FedEx, Walmart, eBay, Staples, and others have taken advantage of tax credits to purchase them.  Color me a skeptic, but with John Doerr and Colin Powell involved, who knows?

Have a good weekend everyone.
