As the tech landscape continues to evolve, Oracle Cloud World 2024 promised to be a pivotal event for professionals and businesses looking to harness the power of cloud technology. Set against the vibrant summer backdrop of Las Vegas, this year’s conference shone the spotlight on cutting-edge innovations, industry best practices, and networking opportunities that can transform Oracle’s current and future customers.
I attended Cloud World with Shannon Roche, MIPRO’s VP, Client and Community Engagement. We looked at the sessions’ schedule and decided to divide and conquer, each of us selecting sessions that showcase SaaS cloud customer stories and product innovations.
Oracle SaaS Cloud Applications or Point solutions (as Oracle refers to it) is MIPRO’s objective area of interest for business expansion in 2024-25. While Oracle shifts focus on implementation methodology, leaning more towards solutions-based offering as opposed to requirements driven offering, the below categories supplement the technical and strategic advancements in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.
Oracle Cloud World 2024
1. AI and Machine Learning Integration – Sessions dedicated to discovering how Oracle’s latest AI and ML capabilities can enhance business operations. From predictive analytics to automated decision making, it helps you learn how these technologies can drive efficiency and innovation. This includes tools like Digital Assistant, Generative AI capabilities, Guided learning etc.
2. User Experience, Data Security and Compliance – With the introduction of Redwood UI, a state-of-the-art, consumer-grade UX, it is used to extend your applications and build new ones that are fluidic in nature. With increasing concerns around data privacy, sessions focused on Oracle’s robust security frameworks and compliance solutions.
3. Industry-Specific Solutions – There were breakout sessions tailored to serve different industries and Oracle’s plethora of products that could potentially be a solution for all. Whether you’re in finance, healthcare, or retail, these solutions help discover how Oracle’s Cloud offerings can address unique challenges and drive sector-specific innovation.
The notable speakers’ lineup featured an impressive roster of industry leaders. Here are a few highlights:
- Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle – Expanded on Oracle’s strategic vision, the future of cloud technology, and the company’s commitment to innovation and customer success.
- Larry Ellison, Co-founder and Chairman of Oracle – Covered groundbreaking developments in Oracle Cloud, advancements in AI, and insights into the future of enterprise technology.
- Gary Miller, Customer Success Officer and Executive Vice President, Oracle – Focused on how to accelerate success and help Oracle customers efficiently achieve their transformational goals. His speech was dedicated to driving a customer-centric, services-led strategy that enables every customer and partner.
I remember the days when this event was called the Oracle Open World, and it used to be held in San Fransisco before 2015. Moving the venue to Vegas is certainly a strong motivation and a crowd puller, as you know, “Its Vegas, Baby!”. That only means more people turnout, which translates to more networking opportunities. These are designed to help make valuable connections, share knowledge, and build relationships that can benefit your professional journey.
Diverse Engagement Opportunities:
- Attending the Keynote Addresses and General Sessions – You can meet fellow attendees and industry leaders. These gatherings often spark engaging conversations and idea exchanges – what each person interprets/understands from the keynote speeches that become hot topics of conversation to talk about.
- Breakout Sessions and Workshops – Participating in smaller, focused breakout sessions provides opportunities to connect with peers who share your interests and challenges in specific areas like SaaS cloud apps, security, or user experience solutions.
- Evening Events and Social Gatherings – Join after-hours events, such as receptions or dinners, which are excellent opportunities for building relationships in a relaxed setting. The Partner Summit was particularly good to understand the mutually beneficial partnerships between Oracle and partners like MIPRO. Since its Vegas, surprises abound (including prospects) – I found myself at a blackjack table with a Chicago-based private transportation company and discussed their transition from Oracle EBS to Oracle HCM & Financials Cloud.
- Learning Tutorials & Interactive Labs – The Redwood User experience tutorials was a high interest session which was fully booked and, unfortunately, neither me nor Shannon got through the waitlist. These sessions included hands-on labs where you could collaborate with other attendees, working together on practical tasks which could foster connections and deepen learning. Likewise, there were several other sessions related to customer success stories, Generative AI, Reporting & Analytics, Guided Learning, Digital Assistant, etc., which were well received and booked full ahead of time.
- Oracle Event Networking – Oracle Events mobile app, provided by Oracle to schedule meetings, connect with attendees, and participate in discussions before and after the event, was a great tool to see and understand the participants from different industries and practices.
Oracle Cloud World 2024 was packed with insightful sessions designed to empower attendees with knowledge and tools to excel in the cloud era. Whether you’re interested in technical advancements, industry applications, or strategic insights, there was something for everyone. From MIPRO’s perspective, this event helped us in many ways, including gaining strategic insights to align with Oracle’s Partner programs, grow in our competitive advantage by ensuring our resources are skilled in the latest and greatest of Oracle’s innovation, and inspire us to continually grow and develop.
