A few weeks ago, we were written up by The Oakland Press. The gist of the article was how our company was born following PeopleSoft layoffs in Southfield, Michigan, and how it grew from there.
But part I want to highlight is this bit, found on page two of the story:
[MIPRO Managing Partner] Micallef estimated MIPRO billing grew by 50 percent last year and is on track to grow another 30 to 50 percent. The growth might even be faster but MIPRO wants to protect its good name and absorbing more work than it can actually handle would undermine that.
“Consulting doesn’t have a great reputation,” he said. It’s all too common for firms to submit a low bid and then add costs once the project is underway, he noted.
But MIPRO is careful to carry out the work specified in project bid without tacking on extras. It is also quick to notify customers when something has gone wrong or if there may be a less expensive way to resolve a a problem.
This is a big deal to us. And not the billing increase part you might be thinking.
MIPRO was founded out of a confluence of circumstance and opportunity, but its guiding ethos has been to do the right thing by its customers – always. Even if it means leaving money on the table. Consulting doesn’t have a great name, and we’re well aware of that. All too often we hear stories of projects being won for an unbelievably low price, only to learn later that the cost skyrocketed with ‘additional expenses’ well after the project was under way. We’ve been called in to clean up these messes more than once.
We don’t play games. We know we might not be your lowest cost provider.
But we will tell you the truth. We will tell you what you need to hear to protect your business, not necessarily what you want to hear. We will not do work you don’t need. We will stick to our plan and provide you with absolute all-star talent. We won’t leave you with a system your personnel can’t manage without outside help.
The Chinese don’t have a symbol for ‘crisis’. Instead, they create the word by combining two other glyphs: danger plus opportunity. That describes how MIPRO got its start.
But ask our customers how we’ve grown over the years, and you’ll find it because we insist on being different than other consulting firms. We know we’re grouped in with the rest, but we come to work every day to prove we’re another breed.
Many thanks to our customers, consultants and partners who’ve helped us along in our journey. We cannot thank you enough.
