Last week we covered optimization as part of our ongoing Strategic Sourcing blog series. If you missed it, check it out.
So, moving on.
Whether you used the online analysis tool or the optimization engine, once you determine who you will award the event to, you must initiate the award action.
The award event can be initiated at the event analysis page. In our example that we have been demoing, we awarded the event to BELMEX Import. We awarded 100% of the bid (see screenshot below).
Once the award is made on the analysis page, we can go to Award Events:
On the award details page, the award is summarized. In this case we were going to award a purchase order versus a contract. The purchase order business unit is entered and when POST AWARD is selected, an express purchase order is created.
A purchase order is generated and at this point, and the normal purchasing process of dispatch, receive etc. occurs, completing the procurement process.
With the purchase order dispatch, we have completed the strategic sourcing event and award — it’s pretty straightforward.
We have two more topics to cover in this Strategic Sourcing blog series: using project plans. Stay tuned.
