Ensco plc brings energy to the world as a global provider of offshore drilling services to the petroleum industry. With more than 7,000 employees operating on six continents, Ensco is the world’s second largest offshore oil and gas well drilling company. Due to the sheer size and geographically dispersed nature of their Organization, the drilling giant sought a technology solution that would maximize their operational efficiency and increase uptime – ultimately improving their bottom line. Ensco engaged MIPRO Consulting for a two-phase Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) implementation that would not only allow them to achieve their primary objectives, but help maintain regulatory compliance as well.
During the first phase, MIPRO worked with Ensco to identify foundational data including more than 300 business requirements. That first phase included a pilot of PeopleSoft ALM 9.1 and a mobile solution to validate functionality in an offshore environment.
In Phase 2, MIPRO is expanding the ALM implementation into a full-scale deployment, integrating asset management, general ledger, inventory, purchasing, project costing and human resource management. MIPRO is also working internally to perform extensive knowledge transfer through exhaustive end-user training.
Ensco and MIPRO are already seeing promising results, including enhanced efficiencies resulting from the integration of critical business units. The implementation of a full-scale ALM system will help the company eliminate downtime and maximize efficiencies while ensuring adherence to compliance regulations.
